GLSS-Great Lakes Super Sprints

Horstman Captures Third GLSS Title, 10th Career Championship

Merrill, MI - The all-time winningest driver with the Great Lakes Super Sprints Presented by PERFIT & ARP added another award to his tenured list of accomplishments at the conclusion of the 2025 season at Crystal Motor Speedway. Capturing the Ohio CAT Division Championship, the now three-time GLSS Champion, Jared Horstman, rounds into an even 10 titles.

The Jared Horstman Racing crew would likely tell you their outlook on the 2025 season was hopeful, but not overly optimistic. The 2024 season would be acceptable for most; however, the standards for Jared Horstman are higher than a winless season and six top-five finishes with 17 top 10s in 30 starts. In fact, prior to the 2025 season, the Horstman camp contemplated what the future of their racing program would look like.

During the off-season, Jared’s father, Joe Horstman, went to school in an effort to learn more about sprint car setups and what their program may have missed in 2024. The effort was evident from the very start of the 2025 season.

Horstman began the year on a tear, qualifying third quick, winning his heat race, and coming from third to win the season opener at Crystal Motor Speedway. The win was Horstman’s first since June 2nd, 2023, at I-96 Speedway, and it felt like it was the first of a memorable season.

Horstman went on to finish runner-up at I-96 the following week, seventh at Limaland, and grabbed another win in the return to I-96 on May 9th. The string of top five and top ten finishes continued until Saturday, June 14th, when he went back to victory lane at Butler Speedway, won the following Friday at I-96, finished runner-up at Tri City Motor Speedway on June 27th, and won again at Crystal Motor Speedway on June 28th.

By the end of the season, Horstman had racked up seven feature wins, a staggering 22 top-five finishes, and 24 top 10s in 27 starts. Horstman’s wins were fairly lopsided in Michigan, with six of the seven trips to victory lane happening in the Mitten State, and his only win in Ohio coming at Millstream Speedway on July 5th.

The season was impressive, and was enough for Horstman to collect his third Great Lakes Super Sprints-sanctioned Championship, winning the MacAllister (Michigan) CAT Division title for the first time. The championship goes along with Horstman’s seven NRA titles from 2015-2018 and 2021-2023.

The trifecta was in sight for Horstman this season, after finishing second in the Ohio CAT Division by 161 points, and trailing in the Tour by just 115 points. Horstman’s seven wins this year also set him atop the GLSS all-time wins list with 32 feature wins since June 24, 2016.

The next event for the Great Lakes Super Sprints is Friday, September 19th at Eldora Speedway alongside the High Limit Racing Sprint Cars and USAC Silver Crown Series as part of the 4-Crown Nationals. Advanced tickets are available at EldoraSpeedway.com.
