GLSS-Great Lakes Super Sprints

DALMAN ROLLS THE BOTTOM AND TAKES THE WIN

Muskegon, MI (Saturday, August 14, 2021) - Night number two of a doubleheader weekend for the Great Lakes Super Sprints Presented by Engine Pro and ARP brought teams north to Thunderbird Raceway for the one and only stop at the facility this season. Another impressive show was put on in front of a packed house Saturday night.

The night began with Ti22 Performance Qualifying. Phil Gressman set fast time with a 12.199 second lap time, over two-tenths of a second faster than Frank Neil who qualified second fast.

Gressman and Chase Ridenour led the field to the green flag for one of the fastest GLSS shows of the season. For the second straight appearance at Thunderbird Raceway, the event went green to checkered with no caution flag during the event. From the drop of the green flag, until the checkers waved, just six minutes passed on the clock - but in that time a lot of action filled the speedway.

Gressman jumped out to the early lead ahead of Ridenour but the story of the race was the drive out of the wily veteran, Gregg Dalman. Rolling off from the ninth spot, Dalman took the sixth spot by the time the field raced to the backstretch. As that was happening, Ruhl was tracking down Gressman as the leaders raced into the backmarkers.

While Gressman and Ruhl worked to navigate the lapped cars, Dalman continued to use the extreme bottom of the race track to work his way to the front. Dalman took the two-for-one-deal on Ruhl and Gressman to go to the front with 11 laps to go and never looked back to grab the win. Ruhl would take home second, Sams got by Gressman for third and Linden Jones rounded out the top five.

The next event for the Great Lakes Super Sprints Presented by Engine Pro and ARP is a two day show at I-96 Speedway on Friday and Saturday, September 3rd and 4th. For more details, log onto www.GreatLakesSprints.com and find the Great Lakes Super Sprints on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
