GLSS-Great Lakes Super Sprints

2016 AWARDS BANQUET

December 3rd will be the Inaugural End of Season Banquet, celebrating our Inaugural Season!

A year ago Great Lakes Super Sprints barely existed on paper! There were hours spent on the phone with tracks, car owners, drivers, fans and racing vendors. Many of these people were interested in a new series but many wanted to wait and see if it would really happen. There was no way a new series was going to get their own races or pay a bigger purse. There were comments like “They won’t even get 1 race in…” to “They’ll fold up half way thru the season”!!!

By the end of November 2015, a schedule which included visiting every track in Michigan, 3 tracks in Ohio and 2 tracks in Indiana was starting to be carved in stone. By the end of March, there were 25 paid members (drivers) that had joined GLSS. Even the skeptics were realizing that this new series was going to happen!

It was an exciting, yet scary time not knowing how things would play out over the course of the season. That season is now in the books and GLSS is excited to crown our first champion, Chase Ridenour and celebrate the excitement of our first year! The banquet will be held at Impression 5 in downtown Lansing.

Impression 5 is an education partner of Great Lakes Super Sprints and GLSS Sprint Car STEM Education Program. Currently through January 6th, GLSS is participating in the “Race to Win” interactive display at Impression 5, which is produced by The Children’s Museum of Indianpolis and sponsored by Hot Wheels.

Our success in acheiving our goal of getting children involved and excited about the world of racing is greatly increased through our partnership with Impression 5. The synergies for both organizations by teaming up together is a definite win win situation for everyone involved!
