GLSS-Great Lakes Super Sprints

Great Lakes Sprints Embark on Double Header Weekend

Hartford, MI (Thursday, May 27, 2021) - The Great Lakes Super Sprints Presented by Engine Pro and ARP (GLSS) and Great Lakes Traditional Sprints Presented by Comp Cams (GLTS) are preparing for a weekend full of racing to ring in the Memorial Day Holiday. A double-header for both divisions stretches across three days for the Great Lakes Family of Sprint Cars.

First up, GLSS will embark on what it hopes will be the first full double-header weekend of the season. Earlier this year, GLSS was set for a double-header from I-96 Speedway, but night one was washed away. This weekend, Hartford Motor Speedway and Crystal Motor Speedway will be the hosts for the double-header thriller for both divisions. Last season, Chase Ridenour collected his second win of the year by holding off Ryan Ruhl for the exciting end-of-season win at Hartford. Eventual Champion, Jared Horstman finished third, with Trevor Berry and Phil Gressman rounding out the top five. Due to COVID-19 protocols, just one race was contested in 2020 at Hartford for GLSS. The first of three visits to the western Michigan facility will take place this Friday night.

Then on Saturday, GLSS moves east to Crystal Motor Speedway for the first of just two visits in 2021. Last season, Horstman came from his sixth starting spot to collect the win during the only GLSS race held at Crystal in 2020. Stambaugh brought home second with Dalman in third. While that will complete the weekend for GLSS, Saturday only marks the beginning for the Great Lakes Traditional Sprints.

For their second race of the season, the non-wing brethren of the GLTS will once again unload at Hartford Motor Speedway. Shirtailing GLSS, a second night of racing is on tap at the wide and fast oval near the Indiana border. In the first race of the season at I-96 Speedway, which was co-sanctioned with the Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Car Series (BOSS), Thomas Meseraull came in and stole the show from hometown favorite, Dustin Daggett. Daggett, who started 12th, ran out of time to track down the 8th place starting Meseraull. Steve Irwin finished third, with Luke Hall and Keith Sheffer, Jr completing the top five.

Then on Sunday, continuing to follow in the Hoosier Racing Tire tracks of GLSS, the 410 Sprints will compete at Crystal Motor Speedway for the first time this season. The 2020 campaign for GLTS came to an official close at Crystal, with Mike Galadja taking the win and the eventual Championship honors. He bested Mark Irwin and Shawn Valenti en route to victory lane.

Gates at Hartford Motor Speedway open at 5:00 PM both Friday and Saturday, with the first green flag of the night at 8:00 PM each night. At Crystal Motor Speedway, Gates open at 4:30 PM both Saturday and Sunday, with racing getting underway at 7:30 PM each night.
